Facilitator + Guest Teachers
Beck: Wildlife scientist with research and naturalist experience. Tracked Tule Elk, benthic macro-invertebrates, and threatened and endangered birds and amphibians all over the Bay Area – and has seen three mountain lions in the wild! Her free time is spent behind a book, fishing, foraging or road tripping – with her 12 year old kid.
Plus guest teachers throughout the seasons! Spoon carving expert, college professor of mycology and botany, primitive skills and technology experts, herbalist, fishing, etc…

Our environment and learning:
- McLaren Park is huge and has a variety of elevations and habitats to explore
- Occasional field trips via public transit based on weather, air quality, tide charts!
- We follow the group’s interests into larger projects as they develop


Our guides:
- Started by a homeschooling parent / wildlife scientist / nature docents + outdoor ed specialist / native plant specialist
- Experience in homeschooling, unschooling, forest school and self directed learning center creation
- Informed by Coyote’s Guide nature awareness framework
- Intended ratio of 1 adult : 6 kids
